Chevrolet to Make a Splash at the Southern California Swimming Junior Olympics Competition

This July, more than 1,200 of the best age group swimmers in SoCal and the western region of the U.S. will come together for the Southern California Swimming (SCS) Junior Olympics Competition to vie for their chance to medal in sprints, distance and relay swimming events. Thousands of parents and spectators will be in attendance to cheer on these world-class athletes at California Lutheran University’s (CLU) Samuelson Aquatics Center in Thousand Oaks over the course of the five-day meet.
We are going to dive right in and support this great community event by partnering with the Conejo Simi Swim Club, host of the SCS Junior Olympics, for two days of fun rides to free food. Chevrolet will be poolside on Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering parents, spectators, and maybe even some swimmers a chance to beat the swim meet heat by taking a ride in or driving a new Chevrolet vehicle to local restaurants for some free, refreshing snacks and drinks. Our Chevy (I’m a fan so I can still call it that) Equinox and Traverse crossovers, a Camaro and even a new Buick LaCrosse will be at CLU and available for folks to take for a spin to the local Carl’s Jr., McDonald’s or Jack in the Box restaurants. The food is on us. We might even throw you a Flip cam so you can record your adventure…and we might even post it right here on our blog.
We’ll also have a Chevrolet Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle on hand for event attendees to check out. The Fuel Cell Vehicle uses zero gasoline and produces zero emissions other than pure water vapor (the kind the astronauts used to mix their Tang back in the day). If you will be at the meet, you really should visit our Chevrolet booth and sign up for a test drive or a ride. You will see the booth right by the entrance to the pool (I’m told that even I couldn’t miss it). Attendees must be 21+ to drive and 18+ to ride in vehicles, and opportunities are on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition to complimentary snacks, you’ll also receive a stadium seat cushion – which will make any bleacher seat more comfy – just for taking a ride.
